Kathryn Barrera - Guardian Angel

Many of our clients remember Kathryn Barrera, one of our top San Francisco court reporters who we lost to ovarian cancer in September of 2000, but who is still with us in spirit. Kathy became affiliated with lipka.com professionally as the lead court reporter for depositions in San Francisco on the Visa/MasterCard Antitrust Litigation, and quickly became a dear friend. Prior to working with lipka.com she owned her own court reporting firm, Barrera Reporting in San Francisco, which she eventually sold so that she could become a RealTime trainer and go back to reporting full time. Kathy was very active in her profession as a mentor to countless reporters in the Bay Area, and is sorely missed. She was beautiful, funny, fiercely loyal to her friends, extremely intelligent and gave the best advice about problems relating to guys and mothers! In her honor and memory we have set up The Kathryn Barrera Trust, which offers grants to ovarian cancer fighters to defray the cost of complementary care that is not covered under medical insurance policies. During Kathy’s fight she commented on how lucky she was to have such loyal friends who had yoga instructors come to her home, did macrobiotic cooking for her and just came over to walk her dog, Ceci. She wondered what other women did who didn’t have the financial resources or the wonderful friends that she did. Kathy’s words were our inspiration for the Kathryn Barrera Trust. We are pleased to announce that we have acquired 501(c) status so that all donations are tax deductible. lipka.com, inc. donates at least 10% of our profits each year to this trust.
